"Branca Castanha Pastilha" was a site specific work for Gustavo Sumpta's first individual exhibition at the VPF Cream Gallery in January 2007. It consisted in the reproduction at 1/1 scale of a photograph placed at the same location where it was taken, creating a 'trompe l'oeil' effect when the visitor enters into the gallery space.

AGGLOMERATION

"Agglomeration" is part of BLINDSPOT, an interdisciplinary research project about perception. This project aims at investigating perception in a broad and global sense, as well as its circumstances, its determinants, and its contingencies. The proceedings in the laboratories for vision sciences research are translated into different settings, thereby creating a meta-language that crosses the traditional boundaries between science and art.

I AM HERE

I Am Here is a solo-performance by the choreographer and dancer João Fiadeiro inspired by the work of the Portuguese visual artist Helena Almeida. My collaboration to this project consisted in "extracting" and creating a different point of view (from the one of the audience) of some of the scenes of this performance.

The project was published as a catalogue by the Belém Cultural Center in May 2004.

OUT OF FOCUS

OUT OF FOCUS took place in a wider commissionned project named "SMS-SOS. Coimbra's New Visuality". It consisted in creating a new visual cartography of the city of Coimbra and dialogue between the traditional iconography of the city and artistic fields such as photography, architecture or design. The project was presented in the shape of a catalogue (published by ASA) and exhibition at the Pavilion Center of Portugal, in November 2003.
